FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can you recommend which equipment a business entering the Micrographics market might need?

The type of equipment required by a business operating in the Micrographics industry depends on the nature of the services or products it provides.

If your goal is to produce Microfilm and/or Microfiche to securely archive vital information and data for long-term preservation, you would need an archive writer and a film processor.

While many may perceive Microfilm as outdated technology, it's worth noting that Microfilm remains the only secure, incredibly space-efficient, incorruptible/unhackable, and easily accessible data storage medium, with a potential lifespan of up to 500 years. Plus, it requires only a light source and a lens to access.

When the aim is to access and scan pre-existing microfilm, you would be needing a micrographic scanner tailored to the specific type of film you need to work with. This may include 16mm or 35mm roll films, microfiche, aperture cards, or micro-opaque cards.

Micrographic scanners come in various shapes, sizes and capabilities. Additional information can be found here:

  • What are the available warranty options for your products?

All equipment comes with a full manufacturer-backed warranty ranging from 12 months to 3 years depending on the equipment.

Extended warranty options, backed by the manufacturer, are also available for most equipment.

  • Are there customisation options available for scanners or micrographics equipment to suit specific business needs?

The majority of equipment offers a variety of customisation options to tailor it to your particular requirements.

These options can include specialised adapters and film carriers, additional functions to accommodate specialised services such as OCR capability and increased capacities to handle larger or higher throughput requirements.
